FAQ - Network License Setup

For both AdvantEdge FEM and AdvantEdge Production Module, follow steps 1-6 from Node-locked License Installation Instructions for installing the license on the server.

To setup client computers to connect to the server, follows these steps:

  • Verify the client computer is in the same network as the license server.
  • Install AdvantEdge on the client computer
  • Go to Control Panel --> System --> Advanced tab.  Click on "Environment Variables". Click "New" to add a User Variable (not a System Variable)
    For variable name, type:
    THIRDWAV_LICENSE_FILE
    For variable value, type:
    @123.456.7.89 (where 123.456.7.89 is the IP address for your license server)
  • Repeat for all client computers.

If you want to specify a port number other than the default (27000):
You can change your current license file as described below for port number 40000 (or whatever port number you choose)

The top line of your license file is currently:
SERVER HOOK 003456788c7e

Change this line to say:
SERVER HOOK 003456788c7e 40000

When setting up the client computers you will need to set the following variable:
THIRDWAVE_LICENSE_FILE
40000@HOOK
