The majority of the service solutions offered to customers by Third Wave Systems are performed at our Productivity Center, featuring a state-of-the-art Mori Seiki 5-Axis machining center. The Productivity Center is a fully-operational research and development lab with measurement and inspection capabilities ranging from surface finish measurement to cutting force data collection with our new Kistler 4 component dynamometer.
Do you have a specific project that requires cutting force data, or perhaps your lab is so full it can't meet your schedule? Let Third Wave's team of engineers collect your data using our newest piece of equipment, a Kistler 9255B table mounted dynamometer. Third Wave will provide a report of the test conditions and raw force data, as well as technical and analysis support for the project.
Third Wave Productivity Center Equipment:
- Machine Tool: Mori-Seiki NH6300 DCG 5-axis horizontal machining center, 30 kW, 8000 RPM high torque direct drive CAT-50 spindle, 1m x 1m x 1.3m work envelope, Fanuc series 16i controller, 70 bar high pressure coolant system.
- Data Acquisition: Laptop-based. National Instruments NI DAQPad-6015 16 channel data acquisition board, 200 kHz sampling rate, Matlab software with data acquisition and signal processing toolboxes.
- Software: Catia V5 CAD/CAM, Autocad Lite, Vericut 5.4, AdvantEdge™, AdvantEdge Production Module™
- Dimensional Measurement: Renishaw MP700 optical transmission probe, standard calipers, micrometers, height gages, gage blocks.
- Vibration Measurement: Microphone based, MLI Harmonizer
- Cutting Force/Power: Carron T-Mac spindle power monitor.
- Tool Wear Assessment: Flexbar Optiflex digital microscope with image capture software
Tool life is a critical component to all machining jobs, however, if your machine tool isn't making parts your facility isn't making money. Third Wave understands that and is well positioned to recreate your process on our Mori Seiki machining center and complete the tool life testing for you. Using our Optiflex Digital Microscope we can run tool life tests to your criterion, freeing up your capital equipment to make a real return on your investment. We will provide you a detailed report on our findings allowing you to produce more parts and less scrap with the lowest possible tooling costs.
