Third Wave Announces Release of AdvantEdge FEM 5.2
Minneapolis, MN
July 2008
Third Wave Systems is pleased to announce the release of AdvantEdge FEM 5.2.
AdvantEdge FEM is the gold standard in material-based machining modeling, giving engineers in cutting tool companies the ability to reduce design iterations and get new products to market faster. The software is also used by aerospace, automotive, and medical device companies to optimize current and new machining production by giving engineers more information (stresses, temperatures, forces, etc.) than traditional trial and error testing.
New Features
AdvantEdge FEM 5.2 adds the following new features:
- Improved DXF meshing and selective refinement of 2D models
- Parametric double-angle point standard drill geometry
- Expanded tapping capability
- Tool and workpiece 3D visualization within the user interface >>
Improved Performance
Users of AdvantEdge FEM 5.2 will also benefit from greatly improved performances. AdvantEdge FEM 5.2 will perform serial configurations 25% faster, and simulations utilizing 8-core parallel processing five times faster than in version 5.1. Kerry Marusich, CEO of Third Wave Systems, says the new version’s higher speeds and improved ease of set-up and visualization have dramatically increased its capabilities for modeling cutting tools, especially drills and taps.
"These new features and performance improvements will strengthen our position as the standard for cutting tool designers and engineers who are involved in machining process optimization," said Mr. Marusich. "We’re excited about the new release.”
