Former Kennametal Executive Joins TWS Board of Directors

Third Wave Systems announced today that David Arnold, former Vice President and Chief Technical Officer of Kennametal (NYSE:KMT), has joined the company’s Board of Directors. Mr. Arnold was elected today at EMO Hannover.
"Dave brings an incredible wealth of industry knowledge and wisdom to Third Wave, from having helped run one of the largest cutting tool companies in the world,” said Kerry Marusich, Third Wave Systems’ CEO. "Dave is going to be a terrific director, and we’re excited and honored that he has chosen Third Wave as his first private sector board to serve on.”
This addition will help Third Wave Systems in its ongoing pursuit to provide customers, especially cutting tool companies, with new, easy-to-use modeling technology to improve their efficiency.

About David Arnold:
David B. Arnold retired in August 2003, as the vice president and chief technical officer of Kennametal Inc., Latrobe, Pennsylvania, after 24 years with the company. Arnold managed
the activities of Kennametal’s world-class Technology Center and directed all global research
and technology functions (development of new products, materials and applications;
improvement of existing products and applications; and research and development of product
manufacturing procedures and techniques.) He also directed all technological operations that
support the corporation’s product manufacturing and sales operations. Before joining Kennametal, Arnold was in the materials and process technology laboratories, Aircraft Engine Group, General Electric Company, Evendale, Ohio. Prior to that, he was with Fansteel and DuPont, both in Baltimore, Maryland. Arnold earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Virginia, in 1962.
Arnold has served on the Board of Advisors, Machining Technology Association of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, was vice chairman of the Board of Innovation Works in Pittsburgh, and has served as a past director of the Latrobe Area Chamber of Commerce. He led the effort to have the Department of Defense establish the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining at Kennametal and served as its first Chairman of the Board.
