Open House at Third Wave Productivity Center Honors
Congressman Martin Olav Sabo
Minneapolis, MN
June 1, 2006
Third Wave Systems is hosting an Open House to honor Congressman Martin Olav Sabo at the Third Wave Productivity Center on Friday, June 2, 2006. Congressman Sabo was instrumental in securing $2.25 million dollars in Congressional funding for Third Wave’s Advanced Modeling Technology Initiative last year.
The Advanced Modeling Technology Initiative recognizes Third Wave Systems’ development and demonstration of technology that holds significant promise for cost savings in the productions of the U.S. Army’s Future Combat Systems (FCS). Recent advances in Third Wave Systems’ material modeling technology have allowed for more efficient machining of titanium, which can lead to a 20% overall cost reduction for these important titanium parts. Third Wave Systems’ technology has already been successfully demonstrated for productivity improvements on F-35 (Joint Strike Fighter) airframe and engine components.
The Third Wave Productivity Center features state of the art machining centers for aerospace and automotive prototype part design and production. Company President Kerry Marusich said, “Investment in and development of Third Wave modeling technologies has created new high tech job opportunities, especially those related to the manufacturing sector, within Minnesota.”
Congressman Martin Sabo (D-MN), who is making his second visit to the facility said, “Third Wave Systems' focus on developing cutting edge materials technology is important to many industrial uses. These efforts will contribute to our nation's competitiveness by keeping quality high, while holding costs down.”
The Open House will be held on Friday, June 2, from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Congressman Sabo and Mr. Kerry Marusich will address the audience, with refreshments, a facility tour, and machining demonstrations to follow. The Productivity Center, developed in partnership with Ellis on Machinery, is located at 13400 10th Ave. N., Plymouth, MN 55441.
