Third Wave Systems Announces New Offerings at IMTS 2004

Minneapolis, MN
September 7, 2004

New software applications and services from Third Wave Systems will provide increased productivity when machining titanium for aerospace applications. This new, detailed modeling technology improves material removal rate, part quality and tool life. The expanded, more robust AdvantEdge™ 4.5 machine modeling software will contain improvements and additions in the areas of drilling simulation capability (beta version), CAD tool geometry import (STL format), dramatic computational performance and Linux- capable
analysis engine. This software predicts residual stress and part distortion before expensive prototypes are made.

Third Wave’s Process Analysis Services helps reduce cycle times by allowing you to use high speed machining (HSM) techniques when machining titanium, ceramics, nickel alloys and other difficult-to-
machine aerospace alloys. We work with customers to reduce cycle times of the processes by 30% or more.

Stop by the Third Wave Systems’ IMTS booth # D-3210, or call 952-832-5515 to discuss metal applications in Aerospace and Automotive markets:

  • Difficult, slow and expensive to machine
  • Hard to predict stress factors for fatigue
  • Time consuming and expensive to prototype
  • Complicated or impossible to accurately predict heat flow and forces

Register for Technical Sessions on Metal Cutting and Modeling at IMTS: TWS Booth # D-3210.
Session 102 on Friday, September 10th from 9:05 to 9:45 am. Dr. Troy Marusich of Third Wave Systems will discuss Research Approaches to the Machining of Ceramics. The title of his presentation is “3D Finite
Element Modeling of Ceramics and High Speed Machining Processes for Titanium.”

Nishant Saini, Sales Engineer at Third Wave Systems, and Bruce Carter, Business Development Specialist for Aerospace at Sandvik Coromat, will discuss “Productivity and Advances in Titanium Machining.” Dates and times of presentation: Friday, Sept. 10 and Monday, Sept. 12, at 9 am and 2 pm, both days.
Location is Lakeside Center, Room E272D.
