TWS’ material modeling program is a facet of the company’s sales model that often flies under the radar of the general public. Through this program, TWS characterizes customer-supplied metals for future incorporation into the AdvantEdge software, thereby tailoring the software to meet user needs.
How does it work? TWS customers supply material samples to Third Wave Systems, which are then tested to obtain characteristics critical for simulating the machining process. TWS engineers then import the procured data into AdvantEdge for the client to select when using the software. At the end of the process, both sides have benefitted from ongoing interest and participation: users are able to work with relevant material data, and TWS engineers are able to enhance the AdvantEdge material database.
