The development of Third Wave Systems’ software hinges on research projects. Knowledge gained from these activities is then incorporated into future software releases. Current research activity includes:
Nickel Machining -- Focused on the low-cost fabrication of nickel-based aerospace components. Will demonstrate increased product quality and performance, improved productivity, and reduced manufacturing costs for various military and civilian aerospace components. Project will conclude in August, 2009.
Silicon Carbide Machining -- Demonstrating innovative ductile mode machining processes and modeling technology to achieve a 50% cycle time reduction in the fabrication times of silicon carbide freeform mirrors used within airborne lasers. Two-year project is scheduled to wrap up in 2011.
