As part of their Intelligence Process Planning program, TechSolve worked to generate, verify and optimize tool paths; automatically select the most suitable cutting tools; and optimize cutting conditions in order to achieve optimum machining performance in their customer's machining operations. A variety of metals were simulated and optimized, with results indicated below:
Titanium Component (Ti-6Al-4V)
- Challenge: Reduce cycle times
- Approach: Optimize tool paths

- Results: Process was reduced from 104 minutes, to 38 minutes - an improvement of 63.5%.
Steel Component (A2 Tool Steel)
- Challenge: Reduce cycle times
- Approach: Verify and optimize tool paths for two operations
- Software: AdvantEdge Production Module 3D
- Results: By reducing the two machining operations by 53.8% and 72.6%, respectively, cumulative machining time was reduced from 157.8 minutes to only 54.7 minutes - a savings of by 65.3%.
Aluminum Component (Aluminum 6061-T6)
- Challenge: Reduce cycle times
- Approach: Verify and optimize tool paths for two operations
- Software: AdvantEdge Production Module 3D
- Results: Both operations were optimized, taking the component's cumulative 112.6 minutes down to 58.6 minutes - a 48% cycle time reduction.
Cast Iron Component
- Challenge: Reduce cycle times
- Approach: Optimize tool path
- Software: AdvantEdge Production Module 2D
- Results: The baseline time of 3.5 minutes was reduced by 45.7%, to 1.9 minutes.
